1. What are cookies and browser storage

"Cookies" are small text files that a website asks your browser to store and return on subsequent requests. Modern browsers also expose related storage mechanisms — sessionStorage (cleared when the browser tab is closed) and localStorage (retained until you clear it). For the purposes of this policy, we treat all such mechanisms uniformly as "browser storage".

2. What we use today

buyinvest.ch uses browser storage strictly for site functionality. There are no analytics cookies, no marketing cookies, and no third-party tracking on this site.

AccessGate session state

Stored in sessionStorage under the keys buyinvest_access and buyinvest_investor_type. These record that you have self-classified as a per-se professional or institutional investor for the duration of your browser session. They are cleared automatically when you close the browser.

Language preference

Stored in localStorage under the key buyinvest-lang. This remembers your last selected language so the site can present content in that language on your next visit. Retained until you clear your browser data.

3. Why there is no consent banner

Under Swiss law (revDSG) and the EU ePrivacy framework, prior consent is required before placing non-essential cookies or trackers. Because the only browser storage we use is strictly necessary for the operation of the site (the AccessGate is required to filter unauthorised access; the language preference is a basic functionality), no consent banner is required and none is shown.

4. Future changes

If, in the future, we choose to introduce analytics, advertising, or any other form of non-essential tracking, we will implement an explicit opt-in consent banner at that time and update this policy accordingly. Until then, you will not encounter consent prompts on this site.

5. How to control cookies and storage

All major browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies and browser storage from their settings. If you block or clear AccessGate state, you will be asked to self-classify again on your next visit. If you clear the language preference, the site will fall back to English. 6. Server logs (for transparency)

Our hosting provider Vercel records standard server access logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamp, request path, response status). These are not cookies, but we mention them here for completeness. See our Privacy Policy for retention and processor details.
